Allowing infants to feed themselves solid foods instead of being spoon-fed did not reduce their risk of being overweight at 1 and 2 years old, a recent study found.
The 206 women in the study were randomly assigned either to a baby led-weaning intervention—exclusive breastfeeding until 6 months of age and then allowing infants to feed themselves after 6 months—or to a control group that spoon-fed their infants.
