Imagine if, faced with a mysterious patient case, you could query the global medical community for help with the diagnosis. It’s already becoming a reality, thanks to the Human Diagnosis Project, an initiative that aims to empower health professionals and patients by combining the world’s collective medical insight with machine learning.
In practice, the project is an open, online system where physicians can work together on clinical cases.
“Today, physicians use the system to collaborate on medical education cases through an initiative we call Global Morning Report or to collaborate on cases where they need help through a national e-consult system,” said Shantanu Nundy, MD, who directs the nonprofit arm of the project.
