Our 13-month-old son squeals with joy and motions to “Go! Go! Go!” as we pull him in a red wagon down the hospital hallway. He waves at other patients, nurses, and physicians, bringing smiles and chuckles from everyone. I even find myself laughing at his antics despite my anxiety and exhaustion. We are in the midst of our annual two-day follow-up for my son’s rare skeletal dysplasia at a children’s hospital 800 miles from our home. My son is doing great. My husband and I are a mess.
