In Reply Mr Contreras and colleagues express concern that providing individuals with control over their complete, longitudinal health data could result in less-effective scientific research because individuals may not choose to share their data. However, multiple studies have shown that individuals are far more willing to share their medical data for research purposes than are their physicians.1,2
