In this study the author has certainly gone beyond what is usually read in a thesis for a degree of doctor in medicine. The author has made a systematic and thorough analysis of the subject and has added numerous personal observations. He carried out his work at the Institute of Physiology of Cordoba under the guidance of Dr. Orias, who, together with Dr. Braun Menendez, is the author of a treatise on heart diseases recently translated into English by the Oxford University Press.
