To the Editor Dr Fan and colleagues reviewed advances in ARDS diagnosis and treatment.1 We believe the most important comment in the article was: “Strategies that enhance implementation of these clinical recommendations could translate into substantial improvements in patient outcomes.” We agree but are concerned by a paucity of discussion on ARDS prevention and a narrow focus on ARDS in the intensive care unit (ICU).
