For the first time in more than 20 years, the FDA has proposed amendments to key regulations to help improve the quality of mammography services and aid patients and physicians in making more informed medical decisions. The proposed changes would amend the Mammography Standards Act of 1992, which gives the FDA authority to accredit, certify, inspect, and enforce quality standards at mammography facilities.
