This little book has been prepared to present a comprehensive digest of the known facts concerning the participation of protein in body processes. The important contributions on protein found in the literature up to June 1944 are effectively organized under subject headings and the essential facts from the original works accurately reported. The first sections deal with the physiology of protein and establish a basis of understanding for the cause-relationship and therapeutic usage of protein in disease conditions which is discussed later.
