To the Editor A randomized clinical trial by Dr Schwimmer and colleagues1 investigated the effects of an 8-week low free sugar diet on nonalcoholic fatty liver disease progression in 40 adolescent boys. Participants in the intervention group were delivered foods with low levels of free sugar (<3% of total calories) and those in the control group were given a weekly food stipend to continue their habitual diets.
