Overweight and obese adults had improved insulin sensitivity after taking dietary supplements of inulin-propionate ester (IPE) or a high-fermentable fiber, according to a study in Gut.
Twelve adults without diabetes who were overweight or obese received in random order 20 g per day of IPE; a high-fermentable fiber control (inulin); and a low-fermentable fiber control (cellulose). Participants took each supplement for 42 days.
