HARMON GENERAL HOSPITAL IS TROPICAL DISEASE CENTER
Harmon General Hospital, Longview, Texas, was recently designated for the treatment of tropical diseases. The only other army tropical disease center is Moore General Hospital, Swannanoa, N. C. Lieut. Col. Francis R. Dieuaide, chief of the Tropical Disease Branch, Medical Consultants Division, Office of the Surgeon General, stated that the medical staff of Harmon General Hospital has for some time been engaged in a study of relapsing malaria which has resulted in a permanent contribution to the knowledge of the disease. This study is now being extended to other tropical diseases which are rare in this country, such as filariasis, schistosomiasis and dysentery. Col. Gouveneur V.
