RANKIN BILL TO ESTABLISH BUREAU OF MEDICINE AND SURGERY IN VETERANS ADMINISTRATION
Representative Rankin, chairman of the House Committee on World War Veterans' Legislation, introduced in the House on May 25 a bill to establish a Department or Bureau of Medicine and Surgery in the Veterans Administration, H. R. 3310. Representative Rogers, Massachusetts, also a member of the committee, introduced a similar bill in the House on the same day, H. R. 3317. Immediately the Committee on World War Veterans' Legislation, to which the bills were referred, scheduled hearings for May 29. This legislation, besides establishing a Bureau or Department of Medicine and Surgery in the Veterans Administration, proposes that commissioned officers and noncommissioned personnel of the department or bureau may be detailed for service with the medical services of the Army and
