To the Editor The systematic review and network meta-analysis by Dr Ferreyro and colleagues1 found that noninvasive oxygenation strategies (ie, helmet or face mask noninvasive ventilation; high-flow nasal oxygenation) were associated with a lower risk of mortality and endotracheal intubation compared with standard low-flow oxygen therapy in adult patients with acute hypoxemic respiratory failure. This study could support wider use of noninvasive ventilation during the current coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic, especially if the availability of ventilators is limited. However, some issues should be discussed further to better interpret the results of the study.
