The first edition of this monograph was published in 1926. The first part of the new edition covers the details of the anatomy, histology and physiology of the gallbladder and bile ducts. From this point on the author takes up successively methods of physical examination and duodenal drainage and discusses in detail the significance of the types of bile present. There is a long chapter dealing with radiologic examination of the gallbladder, including choledochographic studies. Various types of lesions of the gallbladder are discussed in detail and several reproductions of colored photographs show various types of diseases of the gallbladder and various types of gallstones. There is a good chapter on functional abnormalities of the biliary tract and a chapter on carcinoma of the gallbladder. It would appear, however, that too brief a portion of the book is given to the matter of therapy, only thirty-eight pages being given to
