Riding a bike could help people with diabetes stave off an early death. In a study conducted in 10 countries in Europe, cyclists with diabetes had a lower risk of all-cause and cardiovascular disease (CVD) mortality than noncyclists with the condition.
The analysis included 7459 adults with type 1 or type 2 diabetes from the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition study. The participants reported their physical activities on a questionnaire at baseline and then 5 years later.
