The increasing recognition of the importance of ray therapy in treating children's diseases induced the authors to rewrite their textbook in order to adjust it to the latest accomplishments in this line of work. In an introductory chapter the physical fundamentals of ultraviolet rays are discussed. This is followed by a discussion of the various appliances to be used in the production of these rays, the dosages and the possible injurious influences, and their prevention. A welcome addition is the discussion of the relation of ultraviolet rays, cod liver oil and vitamin D. The indications for this therapy in the various diseases of infants and the possible results are thoroughly explained. A special chapter is devoted to the application of this modality to the various manifestations of tuberculosis in infants.
