Strengthening analysis and dissemination of data and using new technology to streamline tracking down sources of foodborne illness outbreaks are among the FDA’s priorities as set forth in its recently released Foodborne Outbreak Response Improvement Plan.
In addition, the FDA contracted with the University of Minnesota School of Public Health to assess the agency’s capacity for participating in multistate outbreak investigations and issue an independent report that helped inform the improvement plan.
