During the last few years there has been a remarkable growth of interest in the diseases of the blood. Several large monographs, beautifully illustrated with color plates, have appeared within a short time. While these large books have been welcomed by hematologists, clinical pathologists and internists, there has been a decided need for a small, reasonably priced, lucid and authoritative book particularly planned for the general practitioner. This monograph admirably fulfils these requirements. The broad experience of the authors in the clinical management of diseases of the blood, as well as their well known contributions to hematologic research, provided them with a wealth of material from which to select the subject matter. Details of technic and illustrations of the various blood cell types have been omitted. The relative length of the subject matter in the various chapters parallels the clinical importance of the various diseases. Thus the chapter on pernicious
