Abstract

This is the second volume of an annual series of reviews of methods and technics in medical research. The present volume covers the subjects of bacterial viruses, pulmonary function tests and assay of hormone secretions. In each section a large number of tests are described, and in every instance detailed procedures are given together with an evaluation and discussion of the accuracy, value and limitations of the method. In general, the discussions are critical and valuable. This is a convenient reference for laboratory workers and should save considerable time when one is confronted with the necessity of selecting a particular method of analysis or a particular test to be utilized in a research problem. The book is well indexed and references to original work on the methods described are given.
