HEALTH APPRAISAL OF SCHOOL CHILDREN
A pamphlet outlining standards for determining the health status of school children is now being distributed by the Bureau of Health Education of the American Medical Association.The brochure is entitled "Health Appraisal of School Children" and is a report of the Joint Committee on Health Problems in Education of the National Education Association and the American Medical Association. Recommendations as to how the teacher and the nurse may aid the physician with nonmedical portions of the examination are made. Suggestions regarding periodic medical examinations, special examinations and health inspections are also given. The material was edited by Dean F. Smiley, M.D., and Fred V. Hein, Ph.D., of the Bureau of Health Education Staff.A complimentary copy will be sent to physicians, teachers and public health workers on request.
