Beautifully printed and designed for public interest as well as for reference as a historical document is this review of a great American institution, the Rochester General Hospital. It came into existence following the depression of 1837 and it grew out of a female charitable society. It added a school of nursing and the other functions that hospitals have added in modern times. The story is told simply and directly with many illustrations, and the book might well serve as a model for other volumes dealing with similar institutions. Since the hospital was always conducted efficiently and economically, the record of its growth and development is also a guide to modern hospital administration.
