This book covers its subject primarily from the laboratory point of view, developed on a historical basis. The hematological and serologic aspects are presented in detail, and sufficient data of the pathological and clinical features are given to be of value in treatment. In addition to the underlying principles of hemolysis, chapters on congenital and acquired hemolytic types and hemolytic anemias associated with other diseases are included. A very useful chapter deals with the techniques used in investigating hemolytic anemias. Some material on the specificity and reactions in vitro of the auto-antibodies in acquired hemolytic anemia is published here for the first time. An extensive list of references published in the last 10 to 15 years is given. The book, as a whole, should be of value to the hematologist and physician.
