The name Jean Fernel has a high place in medical science. This book owes its quality not only to the greatness of the subject but also to the fact that the writer is no less an authority than Sir Charles Sherrington. The book is a fine biographic evaluation supplemented by side discourses on other great persons of the period and by adequate biographic references.
