This new edition, extensively revised by Basmajian, emerges as one of the best books on human anatomy for students in physical and health education, nursing, physiotherapy, and related fields. Without excessive detail, it presents a thorough and scholarly survey of its subject. The text is pleasant and interesting, because of the continuous inclusion of functional considerations. The illustrations are primarily diagrammatic and present with exceptional clarity important structural principles and functional mechanisms. Although this book is not intended for medical students, it summarizes in many instances anatomic structural and functional relationships in such excellent fashion that they may find it useful as additional reading.
