This work by the late Dr. Battro is an elaborately illustrated monograph concerning cardiac arrhythmias. It brings the subject up to date and includes work which the author and his collaborators have recently carried out, including observation on intracavity electrocardiography in man. It is divided into two parts. The first deals with the background material pertaining to arrhythmias, including the anatomy and physiology of the heart, the methods for graphic registration of the cardiac rhythm, as well as a more extensive section on the theory of the electrocardiogram and the characteristics of the normal electrocardiogram in the limb and chest leads. This latter section also discusses the so-called unipolar leads and the esophageal electrocardiogram. The second section considers the clinical aspects of the various arrhythmias. There is an extensive bibliography covering the important references in various languages dealing with this subject. The format is clear and the illustrations are beautifully
