• Urology, as a dynamic specialty, is evolving toward more detailed elucidation of basic functional data; toward better understanding of genetic, psychological, and social factors; and toward increasing emphasis on prevention.
The interactions between urology and endocrinology, radiology, hematology, orthopedics, and geriatrics have been mutually beneficial. The future promises more exact methods of diagnosis, better control of infections, improved surgical techniques, and greater surgical conservatism.
