This small monograph has two main divisions, the first dealing with over-all considerations and the second with special surgical phases. Although somewhat abbreviated, etiology, pathogenesis, serology and immunology have been presented well. Schematic presentations are concise and clear, and roentgenograms interspersed throughout the text amplify many of the postoperative results. An extensive alphabetically arranged bibliography is included. The book mainly is a résumé of many of the accepted methods previously described. It can be recommended as a reference work for anyone able to read German.
