To the Editor:—  Dr. A. J. Ryan, in his article entitled "The Physician as a Sportsman" in the Nov. 17, 1956, issue of The Journal, page 1134, did not mention badminton as a sport. This omission is even more noticeable since it does not permit the inclusion of Dr. David Freeman, former United States and world badminton champion. Prior to Freeman's feat in winning the World Singles Championship, Europeans and Asiatics considered American badminton players as strictly minor league. In addition to his badminton prowess, Freeman also held national ranking in tennis.
