This edition appears five years after the fourth edition. The chapter on history-taking has been placed, appropriately, at the beginning of the book. In a subject as vast as that of the approach to the patient, there are bound to be minor omissions, but, in general, this textbook covers the field adequately. The paper is good, the illustrations are well reproduced, and typographical errors are few. This textbook may be recommended.
