This third volume of the "Medicinal Chemistry" series contains reviews on methadone and related compounds, quaternary ammonium germicides, nonmercurial diuretics, and synthetic analogues of physostigmine. The subject matter is treated in much the same manner as in previous volumes. Most of the material is contained in tables, but there is generally some discussion of the chemistry of the compounds, the relation between structure and activity, the mode and measurement of physiological action, and the clinical applications. Each chapter contains numerous references to the literature, and the book also includes a general index.
