Abstract

• Failure of the kidney nephron produces many widespread metabolic disturbances, including hypertension. These conditions may resemble endocrine diseases, but whether they are actually due to hormonal forces or are of direct intracellular origin is still not completely understood. Defects in tubule absorption and resorption may be the nosological element in future explanations of these particular clinical syndromes.
