This well-documented monograph summarizes the current status of knowledge concerning the medical uses of algae and plankton. While the nutritional and medicinal uses of seaweed are reviewed, the greater portion of the book is devoted to the microscopic algae, particular emphasis being placed on the culture and nutritional value of phytoplankton. From a practical standpoint, a particularly valuable section is that devoted to human and animal algal poisoning. This book can be recommended for its entertaining presentation and extensive bibliography.
