Elsewhere in this issue of The Journal ( page 976) are excerpts from an article entitled "The Soviet Doctor's Dilemma," by Mark G. Field, which appeared in the January-February issue of the magazine Problems of Communism. Mr. Field is the author of several articles on the medical profession in the U. S. S. R. The article in question contains some interesting information on the status of the doctor in Russia, and it should provide considerable food for thought for those who believe that medical care in the United States should be taken out of the hands of physicians and their patients and placed under government control.
