This new, comprehensive textbook on leprosy and its management was compiled from the contribution of 24 students and practitioners in the field. The editor and major contributor is a dedicated and hard-working scholar whose travels have kept him in close touch with colleagues in those areas of the world where leprosy is endemic. He writes easily with authority and from long familiarity with his subject.
The chapters are in the familiar sequence of a text that deals with a communicable disease, exploring in order the history, bacteriology, epidemiology, pathology, immunology, clinical course, complications, treatment, prognosis, and prevention of the disease. The pace of the text changes as chapters by the contributing authors introduce detailed accounts of special problems and their management.
