This is the eighth edition of an excellent textbook which has been popular with medical students and surgeons since it was originally published in 1931. The material in this book, as in the previous editions, begins with the basic conditions of injury and repair of tissue, then goes on to various types of infections, and comes finally to the latest information about tumors. Individual chapters are written about diseases of the various structures and organs of the body, and all of the surgical conditions commonly encountered are included. This greatly enhances the book's value as a reference work as well as a textbook. Conditions of the greatest importance and value for the surgeon to know have been emphasized, along with the relevant features seen in microscopic examination of tissues and in postmortem examinations.
This edition has been brought completely up to date, an undertaking which has resulted in several changes
