To the Editor:—
Perhaps the editorial which appeared in the Evening Star on Aug'. 22,1960, and subsequent editorials may have come to your attention, as well as previous editorials in this, and other Washington papers, under the authorship of Thomas E. Mattingly, M.D. This letter may be entirely unnecessary if the AMA is, and should be, aware that this individual is not the same individual as Thomas W. Mattingly, M.D., of Washington, D.C. However, inasmuch as a great deal of my mail, in the past years, has been sent to his address, apparently there is confusion of the two individuals and for this reason I may be considered the individual responsible for this very critical editorial on the AMA, as well as some other editorials.I refer you to an editorial published in the Evening Star, by Dr. Thomas E. Mattingly, five years ago under the title "Mistaken Identity," in
Mattingly TW. "Misidentity". JAMA. 1961;176(9):825. doi:10.1001/jama.1961.03040220073027
