Abstract

Data on length of stay for patients at the Massachusetts General Hospital before and immediately after the advent of Medicare suggest that in some cases length of stay of Medicare part A beneficiaries is adjusted in response to the utilization review process, but that this adjustment occurs in only a small percentage of the cases.
