This superbly written and beautifully illustrated monograph on gynecologic oncology admirably accomplishes its avowed twofold purpose. First, it serves as an excellent overview of the clinical approach to the management of malignant disease of the female pelvic organs. This basic information about each of the gynecologic malignancies is of great importance to any physician, regardless of his specialty, who is caring for women and who strives to achieve early recognition and diagnosis of preclinical as well as symptomatic gynecologic tumors. Second, it contains a wealth of helpful information for the specialist actually involved in the care of women with pelvic malignancies. Fundamentally, it presents the vast experience and sound and tested diagnostic and therapeutic techniques and programs currently employed at the M.D. Anderson Hospital and Tumor Institute in Houston.
