We agree with the comments of Dr Say and colleagues that there is good support in the literature for the familial nature of anterior meningocele, and that this should be explored in every case. Our own pursuit of such investigation remains incomplete, having been frustrated by reluctance of parents or siblings or of their unavailability for examination. In none of our patients was there family history of stillborn males.
