The result of the conference is a superb collection of well-written articles most suitable for the continued education of physicians interested in selected advances in medical theory and practice. The authors are generally from England, but the information (with the exception of a few drugs not yet available in the United States) is most applicable here.
This book is divided into seven sections and two commemorative lectures. The first section covers immunology, beginning with basic approaches to the cells of the immune system and assessment of immunologic responses in man. Then there follow discussions of immunologic aspects of chronic bacterial infection, persistent virus infections, hepatitis, and respiratory disease, and the relationship of complement deficiency and HLA-B27 antigen to immune disease. The illustrations in this section and throughout the book are of excellent quality.
The balance of this book covers advances in neurology, gastroenterology, renal disease, reproductive medicine, and the treatment
