The book on surgery of the ureter by Kuss is an excellent reference book. It covers the surgery of the ureter in considerable detail without being lengthy and repetitious. Surgical techniques to eliminate or minimize complications are stressed. Almost every conceivable condition and its method for resolution are presented.

It is well illustrated in simple, easily understandable sketches. If there is any criticism of this book, it is that many of the anatomical sketches lack labeled structures, so the novice or anyone who is unfamiliar with pelvic or ureteral surgery may not immediately recognize all the structures illustrated. The section on ureteroneocystostomies, especially in reference to the management of vesicoureteral reflux, is perhaps the weakest section in the book. It is limited in surgical techniques and illustrations.
