Our knowledge of what is necessary to sustain human life and what is harmful to humans has made great advances during this century. Dr. Henry Schroeder has been one of the leaders in furthering our knowledge of the effects of trace metals on man and on other mammals and he has authored many well-written reports of his findings. However, the potential reader of this book should not be misled by his knowledge of Dr. Schroeder's past contributions. This work is neither carefully written nor scientific. It might be written for the layman, but unfortunately, its unevenness does not allow it to be recommended for the uninformed. At times, it turns into a polemic against some corporations while at other times the author expounds against such groups as the Food and Nutrition Board of the National Research Council.
