ANNUAL REPORT ON GRADUATE MEDICAL EDUCATION IN THE UNITED STATES  The 48th annual report on "Garduate Medical Education in the United States" appeared in the "Directory of Accredited Residencies 1975-1976," but was not available for publication in the "Medical Education in the United States" issue of The Journal for December 1976.The 49th annual report on Graduate Medical Education in the United States will appear in the "Directory of Accredited Residencies 1977-1978" which is now being compiled, and should be ready for distribution in January 1978. These data, however, will not be ready for publication in time to be included in the 1977 year-end issue of JAMA.The 49th annual report will contain data on the number of house staff positions offered, the number of positions filled and vacant, and the number of US and foreign medical graduates in such programs as of Sept 1, 1976.
