In the Sept 26 issue of The Journal (238:1383-1385, 1977), several errors occurred in the discussion of dissociation and pH effects in the SPECIAL COMMUNICATION "Neural Blockade by Local Anesthetics." On page 1384, column 2, the first sentence of the last complete paragraph should begin as follows: "The synthetic local anesthetic is a weakly basic amine that is soluble in lipids..." (not liquids). In column 3, the reaction should read as follows: The equation should read as follows:
