William G. Niederland, MD, clinical associate professor of psychiatry at the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center has received the 1970 Annual Research Award of the Michigan Society of Psychiatry and Neurology, the Michigan District Branch of the American Psychiatric Association. Dr. Niederland received the award for "outstanding scientific contributions to Psychiatry, Psychoanalysis and the Behavioral Sciences" and not for a paper on "The Naming of America—A Psychoanalytic Study of an Historical Event" as was incorrectly reported in JAMAMedical News214:686 [Oct 26] 1970).
