The title of this attractive 318-page book attests to the confidence that the editors have in the remembrance and continued influence of William Osler. The wide-ranging titles and the distinguished authors of the 31 chapters are further evidence of that persisting interest.

Osler comes alive in these fascinating papers by "second-generation" Oslerians. For many of them, he obviously has been role model and inspiration, in life and the practice of medicine.

The editors are present or former officers of the American Osler Society and each has one or more papers included in the collection.

The publication of approximately 1750 books and essays, exclusive of newspaper articles, about Osler since his death on Dec 29, 1919, is further vindication of the editors' conviction about the enduring interest in Osler. An average of 25 such publications have appeared each year during the past ten years.
