This book is a second edition, updating material originally presented at an international symposium by the Department of Ophthalmology, University of Iowa, Iowa City, in 1974. The format is that of a series of topics discussed in each instance by an internist and ophthalmologist, with panelists' questions and answers included. The topics include the involvement of the eye in diseases such as systemic infections, inborn errors of metabolism, collagen and rheumatic diseases, nutritional disorders, diabetes mellitus, and dermatologic, endocrine, hematologic, and vascular diseases. There is an impressive list of contributors to this symposium.
Unfortunately, in common with many compilations of symposium proceedings, the quality of the material is variable.
