We are appreciative of Dr Sugar's kind comments about our article. In an attempt to provide an orientation for Doyle's thesis in the context of the present era, as well as his own time, we accepted the descriptions provided in the two references cited, as well as several current articles. We are certainly grateful for the corrections detailed by Dr Sugar, who is a specialist in neurosurgery. It appears that our oversight was in not obtaining an expert opinion on the most current and reliable sources of information on neurology and tabes dorsalis.
