This is a textbook for entry-level students of pathology in the health sciences, particularly medical students. It will be welcomed by such students, for it is well written, excellently illustrated, and clearly designed to encourage learning. Apart from this group of readers, its vital and original approach will appeal to all those of us old hands who want to refresh ourselves in the new look of pathology.

Drs Rubin and Farber have assembled an outstanding group of experts who are also seasoned teachers to write, usually vividly, on all the topics mandatory in a student text. They have enlisted the skill of artist Dimitri Karetnikov to produce clear graphic illustrations that enhance the text.
