The first edition of Ocular Pathology: A Text and Atlas, published seven years ago, was a monumental work. Now we have the second edition of that prestigious volume, which includes multiple revisions and additions to the original text. Fortunately, the authors have retained the expanded outline form, which conveys the information in an organized, succinct manner. The first five chapters review the basic principles of pathology, congenital anomalies, nongranulomatous inflammation, granulomatous inflammation, and trauma. Thereafter, the topics are grouped in the traditional manner by ocular tissue types. Although the format is unchanged, revisions have been made in the immunopathology section, the corneal dystrophy section, and the retina chapter. New topics also have been added, including Menkes' kinky hair disease, superior limbic keratoconjunctivitis, Leber's congenital amaurosis, and bilateral acute retinal necrosis, to name a few. All of the additions are welcome.
